Who turned in the best live show of 2019?
So what was the best live show of 2019? For the first time in many years I may not be qualified to judge.
Was it the massive Iron Maiden Legacy of the Beast Tour? Probably but they didn’t get very close to Detroit and I didn’t get to see it.
Perhaps Muse? I understand it was a mind-boggling interactive experience…but I didn’t make it down to the L.C.A.
I heard good things about the Kiss show, but I certainly wasn’t going to pay those ridiculous prices to see a band using prerecorded backing tracks.
Of the shows I did see, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra was amazing as usual and even more electric than days gone by thanks in part to the real, functioning giant Tesla Coil.
The Disturbed and Three Days Grace show was fun with both bands playing hit after hit.
I got to see the young and tireless band Joyous Wolf open for Slash over at Caesars Windsor in Canada.
I also loved the energy inside The Fillmore for The Struts and The Glorious Sons.
The show that made the biggest impression on me was seeing I Prevail inside the small theater on board the annual ShipRocked Cruise. The entire cruise is pretty special to start with and seeing Wilson, Raven Eye, Badflower, Papa Roach, Tremonti and Nothing More was an absolute treat. But even among those bands there was a powerful vibe beyond description when I Prevail hit the stage.
I can’t accurately describe the experience, but I felt like my whole body was smiling. I don’t know about you but that is a pretty rare thing for me.
