• Label Drops Band 48 Hours After Album Announcement

  Tempe, AZ thrash band Vektor looked to set the land speed record for getting both hired and fired last week, as Century Media announced a new album and tour, only to then announce nearly 48 hours later that Vektor had been let go.

  The reason behind the short signing looks to be the history of spousal abuse lead-singer David DeSanto’s ex-wife documented on her Instagram in 2019, before taking him to court. Vektor reformed in 2020 after a 4-year hiatus, but until Century Media had yet to score any label interest.

• Touring Personnel Change for Lorna Shore

  Lorna Shore are currently touring Europe and announced last week, via their Instagram, that bassist Michael Yager will be climbing behind the drum kit to replace Austin Archey while he rests and recuperates from a herniated disc. No word on who will be picking up the bass guitar for future live shows, but we can find out when they hit St. Andrews Hall on November 16th, along with Aborted, Ingested, Angelmaker and Ov Sulfur.

• The Passing of David Anderson

   Soilwork guitarist David Andersson passed away last week at the age of 47. He also played guitar in The Night Flight Orchestra and last week both bands confirmed on their social media that they will continue on in his memory.

  “In the wake of last week’s tragic event, we would like to emphasize that we will carry on the musical legacy of this band and continue to present Övergivenheten to our fans, and bring the new songs on the road around the world in David’s memory,” Soilwork wrote on their Facebook page, while The NFO wrote, “We can’t see a better way to celebrate David’s life and music, than to embark on this mini-European tour in November, that we’ve been planning for quite a while. We encourage you to join us in this celebration and dance the night away.”

• The Black Dahlia Murder Announce Their Future Plans

  Another loss to the metal community this year was The Black Dahlia Murder vocalist Trevor Strnad, who passed away in May at the age of 41.

  In a new interview with Decibel Magazine, the band announced they would continue on with guitarist Brian Eschbach assuming vocal duties and ex-guitarist Ryan Knight returning to the band. “None of us wanted it to be over. We still feel like there is a lot left to do and I know Trevor would keep this band going if I went down a deep, dark path and weren’t here,“ said Eschbach. A celebration of the life and legacy of Trevor Strnad live show was also announced here in Detroit for October 28th at St. Andrews Hall and will be the first official performance for the new shuffled line-up
