  • Abaddon’s Cancer Diagnosis

Anthony Bray – better known as Abaddon, drummer for Venom – revealed last week that he’s been diagnosed with lymphoma.
“I noticed a mass growing on the side of my neck in July 2022, I thought it was maybe an insect bite. I had three samples taken and then went back to see my specialist who said that sadly it was lymphoma. An MRI scan showed that I also had cancer in my bowel and lower intestinal tract,” Bray typed in a post on Facebook, adding, “none of this will break me. F*** cancer.”

  • Steel Panther Announce New Full-Time Member

Steel Panther bassist Spyder, who has been filling in for Lexxi Foxx for the last few years, has officially been promoted to a full-time member.

Spyder is the chocolate to Steel Panther‘s peanut butter,” the band wrote online in the announcement.  “To us, you are perfect. You had us at hello. You complete us. We’re gonna need a bigger boat.” Steel Panther will be bringing Spyder with them next month when they play 20 Munroe live in Grand Rapids on November 27th.

  • Within Temptation Added to Iron Maiden Cellphone Game

Dutch symphonic metal band Within Temptation is currently on tour with Iron Maiden and part of being on that tour is having the band featured in the latest expansion to cellphone game Iron Maiden Legacy of the Beast.

The expansion features the Purge Dungeon and new character Genesis, inspired by the cover art of the Within Temptation single Shed my Skin, who is available to players who log in seven consecutive days between now and October 18th.Both Iron Maiden and Within Temptation are scheduled to play the Little Caesars Arena on October 9th.

  • Metallica’s Best Entry Point Song

In a recent interview with Omar and Cedric of The Mars Volta, Cedric recounted that Metallica came to a Mars Volta show in New Zealand and asked if they were going to play Inertiatic ESP, which was not a part of the set list at the time. Omar then chimed in that he got to attend a Metallica rehearsal before they played a stadium in Guadalajara, Mexico and the band busted out of cover of the song for him to show what big fans they were.

Robert Trujillo also made news last week when he was asked what Metallica song was the best entry point for a new fan, as part of Revolver’s Point of Entry series. Trujillo named the Master of Puppets classic Disposable Heroes as his entry point selection, saying that it was the perfect example of what he calls “the power groove”.
