Great White’s Mark Kendall Give High Praise To Detroit Rock Fans
Last week, during an interview with Great White guitarist, Mark Kendall, the topic of rock fans came up. Just like in a previous interview with Aerosmith’s Joe Perry, Mark talked about the passion fans in the Midwest, specifically Detroit, have for rock. “Definitely…it’s Detroit Rock City. There’s a reason they call it that. All the legends come from there, it seems like.” He went on to say that what happens here as far as the rock fans are concerned, you can feel. “The fans gravitate, I mean, they must roll out of bed and crank music or something.” He said every time they come here their guestlist is long with all sorts of friends.
A story just came out the other day about some areas of the country with the worst concert crowds. The story stated that a recent survey found that Kentucky and Maine had the worst crowds. They pointed to rude and disruptive behavior, littering, intoxication, and contestant smartphone as reasons they ranked so low.
You can see Mark and his band at Smugglers Run in Wyandotte on Friday, the 5th of May.

8 ’80s Metal Albums Everyone Should Own
Metallica released Master of Puppets on March 3, 1986, and years later, it remains one of metal’s most iconic masterpieces.
In honor of its anniversary, we take a look back on that album, as well as other ’80s metal albums we think everyone should own.
The list in the gallery below also doubles as a convenient “metal starter kit” (if you will) for the youths dipping their toe into metal for the first time, because frankly, someone has to think about the children.
Meltdown started on the mighty WRIF on the evening of Halloween, 1995. Technically, his first on-air shift was the morning of November 1st. Moving to the Motor City from Buffalo, N.Y., he has built a career and family. Over his almost three-decade stint at RIFF, he's had the privilege to work with some of the biggest personalities in Detroit radio history. He boasts of being just the second-afternoon drive jock in the station's illustrious 53-year history.
Along with his love for rock music and attending concerts, he's also an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast and hockey player. He plays year-round and manages to squeeze in a few charity games throughout the year. Meltdown writes about the Detroit Red Wings, rock music, and Detroit concert venues.
