What a show at the Little Caesars Arena! Jelly Roll ripped through his entire career, using two stages, and paying tribute to some of his Michigan favorites along the way. He entertained the completely jam-packed LCA faithful for ninety minutes.

Jelly took to the stage around 9 p.m. It was located on the opposite side of the main stage. He opened with "I'm Not Ok" under a flaming skeletal structure. Once he returned to the main stage, he and the band went through a set that included 'Halfway To Hell', 'She', 'Liar', 'Bottle And Mary Jane', and ended back on stage "B" with his monster hit 'Save Me'.

During his set, he also performed a rendition of the Otis Redding classic "(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay," followed by a tribute to his Motor City favorite, Bob Seger. In an interview from last year, he told me that he was a huge Seger fan. “Bob Seger’s my favorite rock and roll artist of all time!” Has he ever had a chance the meet the Motor City legend? “I have not, but, man, it’s big dreams for me, dude.” He went on to say that ‘Against The Wind’ is his favorite song of all time. “Ever!” he exclaimed. Last night he belted out the aforementioned 'Against The Wind, along with a partial 'Turn The Page', and ' Old Time Rock & Roll'.

Jelly Roll show...Meltdown

Jelly Roll drummer Cody "Porkchop" Ash with Darren McCarty and myself before the show. Cody killed it!

Throughout the set, he highlighted and introduced each member of the band. At one point he mentioned how he and the band played "live" and that there wasn't anything fake. I can appreciate that. By the way, the band was fantastic! Solid in every way.

Overall, the show was very well done. From the stage production with the massive screens above the stage to props coming out of the rafters, including a skull, and a rosary during the song 'Need A Favor'. People that have seen Jelly Roll have raved about his live show...now I get it. It was very good!
