The Erebus team works year-round, devising, refining, and adding new signature experiences. This year, Erebus has completely built out and transformed its third floor, diving into nostalgia with its theme of the Nightmare of Trick-or-Treating with a wicked twist. Erebus is excited to bring back the vintage elements of Halloween with the eerie glow of Jack-o-Lanterns lighting the way, as the lurking presence of the boogie man will make their hair stand on end. As guests navigate through the living forest, they will encounter spine-chilling surprises culminating in the ultimate freight of being devoured by a giant, chomping pumpkin. It’s a blend of memories and spine-tingling immersion that evokes that nostalgic yet nightmarish feeling of trick-or-treating.
Erebus signature experiences include the swamp, bottomless pit, spiked wall, spiked spindle, and the intense “buried alive” room where guests face the challenge of holding their breath as they’re buried alive. Known worldwide for pushing boundaries and creating unforgettable experiences, Erebus conjures up and builds most of its props and special effects, guaranteeing guests have a unique and different experience than at any other haunted attraction in the world.

The History Of Erebus
Year after year, Erebus 4-Story Haunted Attraction consistently ranks as one of the world’s scariest haunts, including being named the number one haunted attraction in the United States in the 2019 USA Today 10 Best Readers’ Choice Travel Awards. As Michigan’s largest haunted attraction and the 2005 through 2009 holder of the Guinness World Record for largest walk-through haunted house, owners Edward and James Terebus have spent nearly four decades plotting terror to keep you up at night.
I had the chance to talk with Ed last year about the haunted attraction. You can watch and listen to that conversation here.
