A Zamboni greets hockey fans at the entrance.

I had the chance to take some listeners through the HOCKEY: Faster Than Ever exhibit on Saturday morning. It was cool to see the whole thing before the doors opened up to the public.

Our host, Lori was great! She explained the exhibit to us and let us go free throughout it all.

Meltdown

Our host, Lori, showing off one of the interactive exhibits at the Henry Ford. There are many throughout.

She explained that part of the exhibit was leant to them from the Ilitch family. You can probably guess which part.

Meltdown

A row of jerseys, gloves, skates, and more from today's best players.

Some of the top players in the world are well-represented. There are even a couple of Detroit Red Wing players along the row of stars.

I was tossed in the Sin Bin by the Dearborn cops. I think it was for speeding when I fired a puck at 75.3 m.p.h.

Yes, you can be like my friend Darren McCarty and sit for a few minutes in the "Sin Bin". They have a penalty box set up for pictures. (police officer not available)

Some listeners with Meltdown at the slapshot display.

I had fun with the listeners firing slapshots. You can test the speed of yours while you're there.

Meltdown

The history of the Stanley Cup, and facts about the teams who've won it.

Overall, I highly recommend a trip to see HOCKEY: Faster Than Ever at the Henry Ford. Not only was the display pretty cool, I hadn't been there in a while so it was good to walk around the place after seeing the exhibit.

Meltdown started on the mighty WRIF on the evening of Halloween, 1995. Technically, his first on-air shift was the morning of November 1st. Moving to the Motor City from Buffalo, N.Y., he has built a career and family. Over his almost three-decade stint at RIFF, he's had the privilege to work with some of the biggest personalities in Detroit radio history. He boasts of being just the second-afternoon drive jock in the station's illustrious 53-year history. Along with his love for rock music and attending concerts, he's also an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast and hockey player. He plays year-round and manages to squeeze in a few charity games throughout the year. Meltdown writes about the Detroit Red Wings, rock music, and Detroit concert venues.
