The Vinyl Frontier With Meltdown – A Michigan Classic
On today’s Vinyl Frontier, it’s from an artist who blew up in the late 90s. Kid Rock played around the Detroit area for a few years before Devil Without A Cause changed his life forever. I just saw him in concert a couple weeks back and these classics still sound fresh played live.
A quick story from this time period. The summer of 1999 I was at my in-laws cottage in Houghton Lake. Around 7pm, I took the mini bike out for a little putt through the woods. About 10 minutes into my ride, the thing broke down. I was pretty far away from the house and reluctantly started pushing it back. Literally a minute into my walk, I could not believe my luck when a truck full of kids came barreling around the corner. They offered to load up the motorcycle and give me a lift back. While we were heading back, they were cranking DWAC. To repay them for the ride, I got some autographed Kid Rock posters and whatnot, and mailed it up to them.
Happy Birthday to this album, which turns 24 on August 18th.
