What You Should Be Watching – Star Wars roundup
This week I’d like to introduce you to a frequent contributor to Nerdradio, Mike Pandoff. One of the cornerstones of Nerd culture is the Star Wars franchise and Mike is a huge fan of it in every form of entertainment. Mike also likes to come on the show to keep me updated on what’s happening on Game of Thrones or try and convince me that Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is actually worth watching from time to time. So when I asked him to fill me in on what’s coming up in a galaxy far, far away, here’s what he had to tell me.
Hey Nerds! Mike Pandoff here with your Star Wars updates.
Disney+ streaming service is launching on November 12th and everyone is already buzzing about the Star Wars television series the Mandalorian. Well another show that seems to be on everyone else’s mind is an Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Not much is known about the current story of the show, except that it will take place eight years after Episode III. That would put it about midway between episodes 3 and 4. Reason for this being brought up, Joel Edgerton might be coming back to play Uncle Owen for the series. While promoting his movie The King, on the Happy Sad and Confused podcast he was very vague on whether or not he would reprising his role on the upcoming series.
“There is a very real possibility. There’s potentially an assassin on a rooftop just outside the window if I say the wrong thing. I’d love to say all sorts of things. I’m just not going to.”
I know for one thing, I’m a sucker for continuity with actors in roles, and would love for him to come back and possibly explain why Uncle Owen had kept Obi-Wan away from Luke for all those years.
On Oct 17th, EA decided to show off their new shiny Star Wars game, Jedi Fallen Order for a second time since June this year. Oh boy, it does look pretty, but so have the last two Battlefront games too. Maybe, just maybe the third time will be the charm for EA with Star Wars, because I’m very excited for this single player only game experience. I’m feeling the Uncharted game play that we are seeing thus far with combat style and puzzle solving mechanics.
Let us know what you think so far with this 12 minutes of gameplay!
So now here is a couple of fun little Easter Eggs you might of missed in the latest Rise of Skywalker trailer: When C-3PO was saying his goodbye to friends, you can see a battle droid from the prequel era over his left shoulder. Second while Emperor Palpatine was talking, you saw a throne that makes Iron Throne look subtle. Well that was Ralph McQuarrie’s original design for the Emperor in 1981 for Return of the Jedi. Last but not least lets talk about that Rebel fleet shot. So many iconic ships in that shot, I froze that shot immediately on Youtube the next day. First ship I spotted, and I will be anticipating to see who is the pilot, is the Ghost from Star Wars show Rebels. Dash Rendar’s Outrider from the beloved Shadow’s of the Empire video game can be seen off to the right of the Millennium Falcon. Last ship I can be 90 percent sure on is, the freight ship Han Solo and Chewbacca flew in episode 7. If you want to check out the whole fleet, some guy really broke it down in his twitter at the link below.
