Motley Crue – The Dirt
I’ve been looking forward to watching “The Dirt” for a while. I got the chance to sit down and watch it on Friday night, after trying to view it Thursday at midnight. I guess they didn’t start streaming it until 3 am our time.
I thought it was pretty good, not great. In my opinion, Machine Gun Kelly was the actor who captured his member of Motley the best. Tommy Lee is like a 12 year old trapped in a 50+ year old man. MGK did a superb job portraying him. I thought the other guys were ok, but he was the best.
A lot of listeners are saying it could’ve been longer. I agree. They rushed through some periods of time and completely ignored others. I think another 30 minutes would’ve been perfect to touch on some things they didn’t, like Tommy’s relationship with Pam Anderson. Also, I thought the death of Vince’s daughter seemed kind of hallow. I think developing that a little more would’ve had the impact it deserved.
It was cool to see some of the stories from the book come to life. Ozzy snorting ants was particularly cool. Even with the clear factual mistakes, like the car Vince was driving when he crashed and killed Razzle, it’s still worth a watch for any fan of that era of rock.
Someone posted on my social media that it was like a Lifetime movie with boobs and swearing. That might be a pretty accurate description. That being said, I’ll probably watch it again, maybe several more times……with less Jack Daniels in my glass!
