LYLVC: Rock, Rap, and Rebellion With Alyse Zavala and Oscar Romero
The Band With the "V" You Can't-Miss https://www.instagram.com/p/DDEKj1wxGLb/?img_index=1 Let’s get one thing straight—LYLVC isn’t just a band. They’re a statement. A bold, brazen, and badass mix of rock and hip-hop powered by dual vocals and unapologetic energy. I sat down with Alyse Zavala and Oscar Romero of LYLVC (pronounced “Lilac,” in case you were wondering) to talk about their origins, their sound, and their insane upcoming plans. What unfolded was a conversation as electric as their music. Where Does LYLVC Come From? LYLVC. Yeah, they know it’s a little tricky to figure out at first. But hey, that’s the point. “There are so many bands using ‘V’ instead of ‘A’ these days,” Alyse explained. “Like PVRIS or LANDMVRKS. We jumped on that trend early.” Oscar chimed in, laughing, “It’s also a marketing move. If you search LYLVC online, nothing else comes up… unless you can’t find us. But don’t worry, we’re working on that.” And trust me, you’ll want to find them. North Carolina Roots, but Everywhere Else Too The band calls North Carolina their home base, but they’re not exactly tied down. Alyse herself lives in Los Angeles, while their guitarist, Kim, is out in Texas. Alyse shrugged it off like it’s no big deal, “It works. We make it work. This band is our heartbeat.” What’s Out Now—and What’s Coming LYLVC’s first EP, The Perfect Drug, dropped in January 2023, recorded at Howard Benson’s legendary West Valley Studios. If you’re into modern rock with an edge, this is your jam. But hold up—there’s more. They’re gearing up to release their new EP, Barely Human. The title track drops next month, complete with a Jensen Noen-directed music video. (If you know Noen’s work with Falling in Reverse and Ice Nine Kills, you already know it’s going to be wild.) And if that wasn’t enough, they’ve been working with heavyweights Kane and Kevin Churko, whose credits include rock royalty like In This Moment and Five Finger Death Punch. “Huge names,” Alyse said. “To work with them? It’s still surreal.” Dual Vocals = Double the Fire The dual-vocal setup is what truly sets LYLVC apart. It’s not just two voices—it’s two sides of every story. Alyse broke it down: “From the start, I wanted dual vocals to blend rock and hip-hop, inspired by Linkin Park. But I flipped the script—a female singer and a male rapper.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_I-OiY_FBAw Their latest single, X.X.X., is the perfect example. “One side’s a seductive succubus,” Oscar explained, “and the other is a man trapped in her spell. It’s two perspectives battling it out.” If you haven’t heard X.X.X. yet, do yourself a favor and crank it up. The Machine Shop: A Rocker’s Paradise LYLVC is no stranger to The Machine Shop, one of the most iconic venues in the U.S. “We’ve played there twice before,” Alyse shared. “Both nights were sold out with Pop Evil and Fame on Fire. The energy was insane.” Alyse’s Game Show Moment Fun fact: Alyse didn’t just kill it on stage—she was on Don’t Forget the Lyrics! https://www.instagram.com/p/Cw-ooa_rpwU/ “My best friend signed me up without telling me,” she admitted. “I got fast-tracked and had no time to prepare, but I still made $25,000!” She made it all the way to ZZ Top’s Sharp Dressed Man… and then stumbled. “I’ll never mess up those lyrics again,” she joked. Going Global Next year, LYLVC hits the road with Life of Agony and Biohazard for a European tour that’s already selling out. https://www.instagram.com/p/DBdq2kepsd-/ “We’re playing massive venues in ten countries,” Alyse said, her excitement impossible to miss. “London, Brussels… it’s unreal.” Oscar added, “The response has been incredible. We can’t wait to meet fans across the pond.” What’s Next? So, does all this mean a full-length album? “Not just yet,” Alyse teased. “Barely Human comes first, with plenty of singles and surprises after that.” Oscar grinned, “Expect nonstop releases—music, videos, and more. We’ve got so much planned.” Before signing off, Alyse and Oscar had one message: find them online. Listen. Join the movement. “You can’t miss us,” Oscar said confidently. And after hearing their story, I believe him. LYLVC isn’t just pushing boundaries—they’re obliterating them. Catch them on tour, blast their music, and remember the name. LYLVC. It’s rock. It’s rap. It’s rebellion.
