What’s up, Detroit Rock City! Jade here with 101 WRIF, bringing you the latest in rock news, music releases, and, well… sometimes, just straight-up rock and roll chaos. Let’s dive into this week’s breakdown!

Metallica Goes Virtual with Their First Immersive Concert Film

Metallica is taking things to a whole new level—literally. The legendary metal gods just announced their first-ever immersive concert film, dropping this Friday, March 14. But here’s the catch: you’ll need an Apple Vision Pro to experience it. Yeah, Metallica has partnered with Apple for an exclusive VR event, so if you don’t have the tech, you’re outta luck. The film captures the final stop of their M-72 tour in Mexico City, giving fans a front-row seat like never before.

TOOL Fans Are Suing… Seriously?!

TOOL found themselves in hot water after their performance at the Live in the Sand Festival, and not because of their usual mind-bending visuals. Fans who shelled out big money for the festival were promised two unique sets—but what they got left them fuming.

Night One: TOOL played 10 songs (which, let’s be real, could have lasted three hours).

Night Two: They only played 9 songs4 of which were repeats from the first night.

Now, an angry fan—who also happens to be an attorney—is rallying others to file a class-action lawsuit against the band. A TOOL lawsuit? Might be the least rock and roll thing to ever happen. Stay tuned as this unfolds.

Spinal Tap 2 Has an Official Release Date

The long-awaited sequel to the greatest rock mockumentary of all time finally has a release date! Spinal Tap 2: The End Continues is set to hit theaters on September 12. Rob Reiner returns as director, and, of course, the legendary trio of Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer are back.

Oh, and the guest stars? No big deal—just Elton John, Paul McCartney, and Garth Brooks. This one goes to eleven. Full details online.

Vinnie Paul’s Rock and Roll Cookbook Is Here

You know him as the legendary drummer of Pantera and Hellyeah, but did you know Vinnie Paul could throw down in the kitchen too? His long-awaited cookbook, Drumming Up an Appetite,” just dropped on March 11—a tribute to what would have been his 61st birthday.

The book is packed with Sunday Funday recipes that Vinnie loved cooking for his friends. The chapter names? Absolute gold:

Main Courses – Reinventing the Meal

Side Dishes – Far Beyond Kitchen

Desserts – A Vulgar Display of Flour

🤘 Rock on, Detroit! 🤘

Jade was born and raised in Detroit Rock City and grew up listening to Led Zeppelin, The Who, Tom Petty, etc. In high school she tried multiple different styles from cheerleader to goth but couldn’t do gymnastics and couldn’t get her eyeliner dark enough. She settled on jeans and a t-shirt, playing sports and making normal situations overly awkward. When she’s not making bad jokes on the radio you can find her shanking golf balls into the woods on the golf course and drinking beers at the bar. She has a strict two shot limit when it comes to tequila. Jade enjoys writing and talking about everything happening in Detroit Rock City, our Detroit sports teams, golf, and her fear of robots.
