Well done making it this far! Unfortunately, all I can offer you in reward for your dedication and hard work is words of affirmation (good job!) and album recommendations. But, with that being said, they’re some pretty fantastic albums. Go listen to them!
Albums Recommendations:
The first album that you absolutely have to listen to is Fearless Movement by Kasami Washington. This album is amazing! I really mean it! It’s an absolutely fantastic jazz fusion album that is just filled to the brim with creativity and talent. It sounds so vast and sprawling and cosmic and is also so very entertaining! It’s the length of a double LP and never once does that runtime feel like it’s dragging because there’s such a great variety of sounds explored on this album, from funk to jazz to ambient music. Listen to it here!
Up next is another fantastic album, this one being Trail of Flowers by Sierra Ferrell. I really think that you guys will like this one, it’s very, very cool. Sierra Ferrell is a very country artist, but this has got more in line with sort of the old school folk and Americana traditions of country and not so much the pop country stuff that was big all last decade. She’s got the banjo, she’s got the twangy guitars, she’s got some stuff that sounds like it was inspired by The Carter Family and also Cab Calloway! It’s really exciting stuff and it’s what you should be listening to right now! So listen here.
Finally, the last album I’ve got on the plate for you today is Jours de cendre by zouz. It may sound French, but fear not, they’re Canadian! Speaking of how it sounds, it is so, so, so awesome. It’s very punk but it’s also very art rock, it’s very angular and it’s also very crunchy. I’m particularly fond of the precise and devastating drumming and the mean guitar tones and riffs. Please listen to them here!
Well, that’s it for this week. I don’t want to hear any complaints from anybody this week, I gave you a whole lotta variety with the music selection and so you should be able to find your new favorite song by now. If not, then you’ll have to have a more open mind and tune in to the WRIF HD2 at 8 PM on Monday. I’ll see you then!
