Yessir, those were all the singles from last week. Let’s now dive into some very cool and very epic albums that I’ve been spinning lately. (That’s right, I’m the real deal, I’ve got me an honest to gosh record player!)
Albums Recommendations:
The first album I’d like to put on your radar is Still Praying by Westside Gunn. As is to be expected from him at this point, the album sounds phenomenal. Gunn has an incredible ear for beat selection and curation, creating albums that have a cohesive, nostalgic, and expensive sound. And on top of that, you’ve also got the always entertaining DJ Drama on the album. I swear, his adlibs are some of the best moments on the project! Go check out the album here.
Up next, we’ve got the album GRAND POP by PAS TASTA. These folks hail from Japan, and they bring a very off the wall energy to this album. It’s a bit of a mix of J-pop, hyperpop, and just general zaniness. It’s lots of fun and it’s very quick too, under a half hour actually. There’s always a fun new idea being presented on the album, and just as you start to get bored, so does the group and they bring you something new and thrilling! Give it a listen here.
The last album that I’d like to recommend is Absolute Elsewhere by Blood Incantation. This thing sounds fantastic! It’s a full length album that’s split between two sprawling songs, and sonically is covers the gambit from death metal to progressive rock. I swear, towards the middle of the second song, it sounds like something off of Pink Floyd’s Saucerful of Secrets. It’s is a constantly entertaining album that knows how to tow the line between the different sounds it wants to explore, and you should absolutely check it out. Here’s the link.
And so, that’s all for now. I’ll have some new music for you on the WRIF HD2 at 8 p.m. I’ll see you then.
