MAY’Tallica Day 2 – Fuel – A Pure Power Metallica Song
This may be the highlight from the Load era for me. I don’t know, whenever I hear this one it just gets me to thinking about the warmer weather and hot rods. It just rocks! Oh, and if you think about it, it’s one of the few songs in the entire Metallica catalog that’s not influenced by a book, or historic event, or any personal struggles James writes about. It’s just a about pure power!
This is right in James’ wheelhouse. I recall asking him about his car collection in an interview around 2012 or so. He chuckled and said “It sounds really stupid, but I’ve lost count” when I asked him how many cars he owned.
Lyrics
Give fuel, give fire, give that which I desire, ooh!
Yeah!
Turn on, I see red Adrenaline crash and crack my head Nitro junkie, paint me dead And I see redA hundred plus through black and white
War horse, warhead Fuck ’em man, white-knuckle tight Through black and whiteOoh, on I burn
Fuel is pumping engines Burning hard, loose, and clean And I burn, churning my direction Quench my thirst with gasoline So give me fuel, give me fire, give me that which I desire Hey!Turn on beyond the bone
Swallow future, spit out home Burn your face upon the chrome YeahTake the corner, join the crash
Headlights, headlines Another junkie lives too fast Yeah, lives way too fast, fast, fast, oh, ohOoh, on I burn
Fuel is pumping engines Burning hard, loose, and clean And I burn, churning my direction Quench my thirst with gasoline So give me fuel, give me fire, give me that which I desire, ooh, yeah-hehWhite-knuckle tight
Give me fuel (on I burn, on and on)
Give me fire (on I burn, on and on) My desire (on I burn, on and on)Ooh, on I burn
Fuel is pumping engines Burning hard, loose, and clean And I burn, churning my direction Quench my thirst with gasoline Give fuel, give fire, give that which I desire, oohOn I burn
Great song!
