Meltdown on WRIF

Weekdays 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

It was July 12th, 2017 the last time the tones of Metallica’s massive chords penetrated Detroit Rock City. What a night! The boys blasted through their usual mix of old and new songs, opening with the Hardwired. There was a threat of rain in the air. Volbeat opened and blasted through their entire set, but the same couldn’t be said for Avenged Sevenfold. They told me later that their crew was telling them that rain was coming and they wanted to get Metallica on early, so they only played about 4/5 songs. As it turned out, not only did Metallica get their entire set in, the rains never came!

Here’s the setlist for their last show in Detroit, at Comercia Park courtesy of their website.

ENCORE

Before they took to the stage that night, James Hetfield was nice enough to sit with me for a bit and talk about all things Metallica, including an accident that cost him a few broken ribs….suffered at Kid Rock’s house. LOL

Now, the guys are back with new music, including the ripping lead of single, Lux AEterna.

The new album drops in April, so there will be plenty of time to study up behe shows here, November 10th with Pantera and Mammoth WVH, and November 12 with Five Finger Death Punch and Ice Nine Kills.

Check out some pictures of the last time ‘Tallica played here, below…
