First Look at ‘A Christmas Story 2,’ The Sequel – Screamin’ Scott
Normally, I am not much for another rehashed sequel of a Christmas classic. But this story has my attention.
The teaser trailer for “A Christmas Story” gets us ready for holiday nostalgia. From “fragile” leg lamps, triple dog dares, the first look at the sequel from HBO, officially titled “A Christmas Story Christmas,” has all the holiday tinsel you could shake a duck dinner at.
Ralphie, Peter Billingsley, returns to his role now his turn as “the old man” and still has the iconic glasses who hungered for a Red Ryder air rifle. Ralphie joins past cast members as he returns to his hometown in hopes of recreating Christmases from his past for his own kids. Will it work?
Some questions need to be asked. How are the neighbors? Do they have a new pack of dogs to deal with? Will Ralphie win his own award for something amazing? What has become of the younger brother? Has the City of Hammond, Indiana banned BB guns? What has become of the pink bunny suit? The real house where it was filmed was in Cleveland and fans can visit and walk through the restored home to look exactly as it did in the movie inside and out. WRIF’s Meltdown has even visited the site more than once. A little know fact is an actor Jack Nicholson was the first choice to play Ralphie’s father but because of the small movie budget couldn’t afford him. Let’s see what happens whether this becomes another Christmas Classic.
The new sequel is set to be released on Nov. 17 on HBO Max.
