Kevin Martin Explains Why The Upcoming Tour Is The Final One For Candlebox
When 3 Doors Down and Candlebox come through town on June 21st at the Michigan Lottery Amphitheater, it could be the last time you see Candlebox on a proper tour.
I had a chance to ask singer Kevin Martin, the only original member of the band, about this on my Talkin’ Rock podcast. “Well, I’ve been threatening this for a long time. Certainly to my fiends and family, none of them believed me.” He said being home for 18 months during the pandemic really made his decision for him. “I realized how much I actually missed. And I loved being home with my wife and son.” He said being locked down he was “able to appreciate everything I had in front of me. Ya know, that doesn’t happen when you’re touring. The appreciation takes place with the audience, with the crew you’re touring with, the towns you visit.” He said he realized he didn’t want to miss anymore. He hoped 2021 would’ve been the year to wrap things up, but after losing revenue from not touring he thought maybe 2023 and the 30th year of the band would be the perfect way to call it a day.
