Florida Woman Accidentally Texts Law Enforcement Instead Of Drug Dealer
A Florida woman accidentally texted a narcotics investigator instead of her drug dealer. Now, she’s in trouble–be careful who you text!
Texting or calling a wrong number can be embarrassing. However, it happens to the best of us. Hopefully it’s just an innocent text that gets sent to the wrong person. It could end up being some private information, a sensitive photo, or something you don’t want to be shared with a stranger. Even worse, you could end up texting a narcotics investigator when you think you’re texting your drug dealer. That might be a concern that could land you in some trouble. Well, that’s what seems to have happened to this Florida woman. It all happened in Bay County, Florida.
Did A Florida Woman Text A Narcotics Investigator Instead Of Her Drug Dealer?
According to WJHG, the Bay County Sheriff’s Office says a woman texted someone that she thought was her drug dealer inquiring about purchasing fentanyl; however, she accidentally texted a narcotics investigator with the Bay County Sheriff’s Office. Not the mistake you want to make! Had she accidentally texted any other number maybe she wouldn’t be in this situation she currently finds herself in. Unfortunately, that’s not how this played out.
WJHG reports that the Florida woman has been identified as 41-year-old Octavia Wells. Reports say she texted the investigator on New Year’s Eve looking to score some drugs before heading out of town. The two then set-up a sale (little did she know at the time that she was not communicating with her drug dealer). They then agreed on a time and place and when she went to meet the person she believed was her drug dealer at a gas station she was met with several investigators with the Bay County Sheriff’s Office. Had to have been quite the surprise for her.
According to WJHG, Wells was arrested and charged with unlawful use of a two-way communication device, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving while license suspended or revoked with knowledge. You can see her mugshot provided by the Bay County Sheriff’s Office below.
Use this as a lesson! Make sure you know who you’re texting before you end up hitting send. Especially if its contents are not appropriate or not legal. You don’t want to end up in this situation. Save those numbers in your phone and label them appropriately.
