The Detroit Red Wings are coming off a 6-game winning streak after defeating the Washington Capitals 8-3 Tuesday Night. The Wings now stand at 33-20-6 on the season and have a firm grip on the top Eastern Conference Wildcard spot. At long last the Detroit Red Wings are back; it seems the playoffs are now inevitable.
The Red Wings got many contributions in the win against Washington. Shayne Gostisbehere pitched in with 2 goals on 4 shots. Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond also pitched in with a goal apiece among other Red Wings. This is yet another big win for the Wings as they further solidify their playoff hopes this season. With 21 games remaining on the schedule, the Wings are poised to finish strong and make their first notable playoff push in quite some time.

The Red Wings are Back
With the whole city of Detroit still on their feet from the Detroit Lions being one half away from making their first Super Bowl ever. The time couldn’t be better for the Wings to make it back to the Stanley Cup playoffs. If the Wings can continue to finish out the season strong, they will clinch their first playoff berth since 2016, where they ultimately were defeated by the Tampa Bay Lightning 4 games to 1. The next season they failed to even reach the playoffs, which snapped a 25 consecutive year stretch of the Wings making it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Since 2016 a lot has changed. A new regime, with a new head coach, new owner, new players and perhaps most importantly a new General Manager. Red Wings legend Steve Yzerman was given the General Manager position in April of 2019 after rebuilding the Tampa Bay Lighting into a Stanley Cup Winning franchise once again. Now with the Detroit Red Wings, Yzerman’s magic is working at last.

Playoff Hockey at LCA?
This team was one of the worst in all of the NHL just 4 years ago and now they’re one of the hottest teams in the league. With many key draft picks and free agent signings. These players that have become key pieces such as Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider, along with huge free agent signings like Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat.
While the Red Wings may not be the best team in the NHL, one thing is for sure. No team wants to see the Detroit Red Wings in the first round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Finals! The Wings will take on the Islanders in their next game on Thursday looking to stretch their winning streak to 7 games! Puck drops at 7pm.

Former Red Wings Defenseman Jonathan Ericsson Talks About His Liv Béarnaise Sauces And Hockey
Former Red Wings defenseman Jonathan Ericsson was nice enough to spend a few minutes on Zoom to talk about his Liv Bearnaise Sauce. Named after his daughter, it echoes the Swedish word for “Life”.
We talked about how this sauce is really a taste of home for him. While playing, he longed for the sauce, and relatives who came over to watch him play would bring some with them. “That was something I had at home all the time in the refrigerator.” Now you can just pick it up at a local Hockeytown store or punch their website here. Try some of their great recipes here.
I’ve had the chance to try out all three throughout the long President’s Day weekend. I put it on steak-um wraps. I put some on tomatoes. I put some on steak, my favorite. Jonathan said it depends on what you’re using the sauce for that determines which one he’d choose. He goes into that in the interview.
He also spoke about how he hooked up with a Detroit company to make this sauce. “I really wanted it to be made in Detroit. If we’re going to sell it there, we have to make it there.”
Pronko is a great family-owned and operated business that provides consulting, manufacturing, and distribution services for specialty sauces and condiments, catering to both emerging and established food brands. Pronko collaborates with over 30 local food entrepreneurs, offering expertise in a diverse range of products including hot sauce, salsa, barbecue sauce, and salad dressings.
We did get into a little hockey talk, of course. When I asked him if he missed it, there was a concise “Absolutely, I do” I had forgotten that he played with a few more guys than just Dylan Larkin since his career ended. Some have gone up and down through the minors and the NHL. We also talked about the fact that he only played for the Red Wings. A point of pride to him. ” I was truly lucky to be in the Red Wings organization my whole career.”
Watch the interview below, then grab some sauces and support Jonathan and a great local company. A big Thank You to Marie Groom, Al Pronko, and Fred Pronko for their hospitality. And to Bill Roose for the hookup!
