Metallica Fans Can Meet James Hetfield At Third Man Records
By now, you should know Metallica will be coming to Detroit in November for not one–but two WRIF shows at Ford Field. What you might not know, is that Metallica fans will have a chance to meet James Hetfield at Third Man Records in Midtown that weekend.
Metallica will be playing shows at Ford Field on Friday, November 10th and Sunday, November 12th. The two shows will feature completely different setlists and opening acts, creating two different must-see concerts. Now, I know what you’re wondering. If there are shows on Friday and Sunday…what’s happening on Saturday?
Meet James Hetfield At Third Man Records
On Saturday, November 11th, Metallica fans will have the opportunity to meet James Hetfield at Third Man Records in Midtown. Hetfield is currently gearing up to release a book of stories and photos about his personal collection of guitars. According to Metallica.com, the 400-page coffee book will be titled, “Messengers: The Guitars of James Hetfield.” The book will be released on November 21st, but Detroit fans can get their hands on a copy early when James hosts a book signing at Third Man Records.
Hetfield will be signing autographs and meeting fans at Third Man Records in Cass Corridor on Saturday, November 11th from 2 pm-4 pm. In order to attend and meet James, you must have a ticket to the event. Additionally, tickets are limited and include one copy of “Messengers…” Note that James will only be signing copies of the book during this appearance. No signing babies, body parts, or anything else that you may want signed.
The upcoming book will feature Hetfield’s vintage Gibsons, custom one-offs, and other exotic instruments. Each one of his more than 40 guitars will be discussed in the book. Stories and blurbs will be accompanied by professional quality photographs by acclaimed photographer Scott Williamson. Hetfield fans may recognize that name, as Williamson worked with James on his previous book, “Reclaimed Rust.”
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of “Messengers: The Guitars of James Hetfield.” Third Man Records Cass Corridor can be found at 441 W. Canfield in Detroit, Michigan (48201).
