Eminem Surprises Ford Field Music Fans (Video)
This post isn’t necessarily about the concert at Ford Field Saturday, but more about surprise guests in concert.
Saturday night the city was buzzing. Kid Rock played his second show at the LCA, while across the street, Ed Sheeran played Ford Field. It’s what happened at that show that I wanted to post about.
A friend of mine was at the Ford Field show. She texted me around 10pm that Eminem had just popped up on stage. I was across the street at the Kid Rock show, but was curious about what that show looked like.
I know what you’re thinking, “Meltdown, you’re a rocker through and through, what do you care about these guys?” For one thing, I’m a big an Eminem fan as many of you may be, especially the “older” stuff going back twenty years or so. Secondly, I love a great concert surprise.
I have to admit, watching Eminem take the stage had the hair on my arms standing up. Let me set this straight….I honestly don’t know anything about Ed Sheeran’s music, I’m not sure I could name one song. That being said, this was pretty epic! What a great surprise for those in attendance.

I’ve seen Bob Seger join Kid Rock onstage, Ted Nugent join different bands. But the most awesome experience I’ve had a concert was one I knew was coming.
When Guns N’ Roses opened their stadium tour at Ford Field in the summer of 2016, I was pretty excited. I hadn’t seen them live with any original members except Axl Rose since 1992. The 5 minute warning shot across the screen behind the stage. Then it happened. Slash and Duff took the stage first. When Axl ran out to join them a minute later it was something I thought I’d never see again. My friend, all 6’6 of him, bear-hugged me! It was a surreal moment I’ll never forget. Seeing all three of those guys on stage was a highlight in my concert going life. Unreal!
