Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale Recalls the Band’s First Awkward Time on ‘The Jay Leno Show’
Talking to Lzzy Hale is so much fun. Plus, I know a lot of guys who know her, so when I found out I’d be talking to her again this week, I texted Brent Smith of Shinedown to get something fun to ask her about. Brent did not fail.
He messaged me back to ask her about the first time they were on Jay Leno and bring up a place called the Oakwood in Los Angeles. As you can see and hear, Lzzy loved this question. She went onto explain that they were in the apartment when Jay Leno, film crew and all, knocked on their door.
“We were in the backroom going over sequences for songs for our first record with our A&R guy,” she said. “Umm, also, half of us were very stoned at the moment…and this guy walks in with this huge head! I’m like, ‘What the Hell’…Jay Leno’s in our room right now.’ We’re all like sitting on the bed.” She explained that the VMA’s were coming up and they were getting people to parody some of the songs. They ended up doing a parody of “Fergolicious” from Fergie, complete with school girl outfits and all! (Even the dudes!)
You can listen to her explain it all and much more on my podcast or in the Zoom interview…then watch the actual Jay Leno skit below!
