While some people stick to tradition on Thanksgiving, others will go beyond the typical turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes meal.

Curious about what ends up on the holiday table, a Twitter user asked for "weird inexplicable retro family recipes" that get served up at this time of the year. Delish took a look at the responses, and the social media site delivered. Maya Kosoff kicked the thread off with what her family calls "seafoam salad," which is chock full of lime Jell-O, canned pears, cream cheese, and Cool Whip. Jell-O came up often, with another user adding how his family would serve it on a bed of iceberg lettuce along with a side of mayo. Only photos can properly explain the bologna cake.

Jade was born and raised in Detroit Rock City and grew up listening to Led Zeppelin, The Who, Tom Petty, etc. In high school she tried multiple different styles from cheerleader to goth but couldn’t do gymnastics and couldn’t get her eyeliner dark enough. She settled on jeans and a t-shirt, playing sports and making normal situations overly awkward. When she’s not making bad jokes on the radio you can find her shanking golf balls into the woods on the golf course and drinking beers at the bar. She has a strict two shot limit when it comes to tequila. Jade enjoys writing and talking about everything happening in Detroit Rock City, our Detroit sports teams, golf, and her fear of robots.
