Coming from a hardcore fan, myself - here's a spoiler-free review on 'Solo: A Star Wars Story.'
To be up front, for those don't know, this writer calls herself a purist in the sense of I'm not a fan of the prequels. I have stuck to the original trilogy and the new installments that have followed. These origin stories, however, are not too bad.
SoloAStarWarsStory is OUT NOW! Make sure you go see it!
I must admit, I was concerned about a 'Solo' movie, mostly because it's not Harrison Ford playing Han Solo. And while we'd rather see a 70-something old man begrudgingly pretend to play a 20-year-old man, Alden Ehrenreich didn't completely botch it - despite the big shoes to fill.
Many reviews have been mixed, as is mine, because though I found it very entertaining, and it was something I would watch again, it wasn't my favorite of the newest installments. I would have to rank it below 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' in terms of epicness and plotline.
SoloAStarWarsStory Better than The Last Jedi Not as good as Rogue One You'll like the cameos More importantly, they didn't ruin Han Solo
What I can tell you is this: despite its quality being a teeny bit lax compared to the other stories in the universe, the film gives you a look to how Han Solo came to be. Where the Solo comes from, how he meets Chewbacca, and how he comes in contact with Lando Calrissian is all covered in the film. Some jokes are also explained, as well as learning where his blaster came from, and where some of Han's signature catchphrases originated from.
Donald Glover predicted his own future. #lando #SoloAStarWarsStory
In the end, you will see that there is a connection, not only with the original trilogy, but also with 'Rogue One' in the start of the rebellion, and the prequels in the sense of who the true villain is in the series.
If you are a fan of 'Star Wars,' I still deem it totally watchable, but if you're anything like me, it may not be your FAVORITE.
