Santa Claus Steals Car, Leads Police on Chase… In July

Christos Kassaras, of New Hampshire, was arrested after leading Maine State Police on a nearly 50-mile high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle earlier this week. The chase reached speeds exceeding 100 miles-per-hour before spike strips we deployed. Police did not catch up to Kassaras until he drove another 15-miles on his damaged tires. Upon his arrest, Kassaras identified himself to police as Santa Claus.
