Another Year On The Motorcycle Is In The Books
In the last few days I've had a lot of people ask me if I had put my Harley Davidson away yet. The answer is Yes. It's always a day I'm not crazy about, but in a weird way, I look forward to "missing" riding my motorcycle for five months or so if that makes any sense. As per usual, this year saw me riding to station events and to work itself, but the riding I like is the other 40% where I have a destination, or sometimes no destination, and I just ride. Getting out in the open country is really what I look forward to. I hate traffic and I don't like to stop. The less my feet touch the ground, the happier I am. This is what it looked like when I got to the Diamondback around 7 pm. Bikes flooded in all night. I made it to several dive bars this year. Fenders in Milan, the Hell Saloon (many times), The Manchester pub, Clamdiggers in Monroe, and many more. I'm always looking for places to ride to. Yes, I had to ride my Harley downriver to check out the Thirst Parlor. At an appearance I did there over the winter, Steve gave me a tour of the entire building. A huge Thank You to everyone at the Diamondback for an unreal summer of bike nights. Thank you to every rider that came out and packed the place weekly. It was a highlight of my riding week. Thank you to my friend, Dave Foster at Bad Pigs Customs, who keeps my bike tuned up and running strong! I loved riding with and was honored to share the road with the veterans from Foundation 14. We need to do that more next year! It's always great to see many of my Foundation 14 friends. An awesome organization doing exceptional things for our vets. Fenders Bar in Milan, Michigan. A "5-star dive bar" according to owner, Tony Thompson. Agreed. It was a fun summer of riding. I can hardly wait to see where my Harley-Davidson takes me next year! The Diamondback parking can hold hundreds of bikes. Get a group and head out on Wednesdays this summer.
