Albums Recommendations:
The first album I’m going to recommend is Moving Day by André 3000. Once again, he’s is back with his flute and making wonderful new age/jazz music. The sonic landscapes he’s creating are so full and rich and exciting, with lots of fantastic flute playing, synth layering, and percussion playing! The nice thing though is that this album is much briefer than last years, and so if you’ve got somewhere to be (I’m not sure why you would), this can be the one that you throw on. I can’t wait to see what he’s got next, give it a listen here.
Next up of course is GNX by Kendrick Lamar. Now, as I mentioned on the air (and I know that you were listening), this album was a proper surprise drop. Not only was the release a surprise, so was the content. With the last song that he had put out being Watch the Party Die, it had seemed that perhaps he had put the beef of this summer with Drake behind him. Thankfully for us though, he seems to have only put his foot down fully on the pedal and gone after many more people in the music industry (and sorta just the music industry as a whole). The album is fully of the expected incredibly lyricism from Lamar but also he is fully entrenched in the West Coast sound, giving us plenty of bangers. Please go listen to the album here.
The last album that I want to talk about is Alligator Bites Never Heal by Doechii. Now I know that this came out earlier this year, but I didn’t have a radio show earlier this year, so cut me some slack! I’m in the process of catching up on all sorts of releases that I missed this year. And man did I miss a great one when this came out. Doechii is an incredibly entertaining and animated emcee, bring a passion and level of introspection that keeps your attention the entire way through the project. It also helps that she packs a lot of ideas into this album with her beat selection and ear wormy production. (Also, there’s quite a few songs that barely clear the 2 minute mark, so that helps to keep the pace moving here). I am very very excited to see what she has in store in the future, but for now check out her album here if you haven’t already.
Well, that’s it for me. Happy Thanksgiving for those of you who partake, you’ll hear from me next week.
