The Lions showcased yet again why they are one of the top teams in the NFL. Defeating the Los Angeles Chargers by a score of 41 to 38 Sunday night. The Lions rushing attack lead the way with 200 Yards. Both David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs had great games. Montgomery paved the way with 116 Rushing Yards and 1 Touchdown. While Gibbs Rushed for 77 yards and 2 Touchdowns. Gibbs has now had a rushing touchdown in 3 consecutive games, finally giving Lions fans what they have been asking for. More Jahmyr Gibbs!

Jared Goff played exceptionally well too, passing for 333 yards and 2 touchdowns in the victory. His favorite target Amon-Ra St. Brown racked up 8 catches for 156 yards and a touchdown. Chargers Quarterback Justin Herbert did throw for 323 yards with 4 Touchdowns in the loss. With his leading receiver Keenan Allen putting up 175 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns on 11 catches. The Chargers fall to 4 and 5 with the defeat. Detroit Moves to 7-2 with the win and their eyes are firmly on the horizon. While it may not be too early to be talking Playoffs for the Lions. Should we now be talking about if Detroit has any threats that stand in their way of success? Or are they themselves the biggest threat to the season?
They’re Not The Same Old Lions
This NFL season has been weird, especially for the city of Detroit. The Detroit Lions find themselves in a uniquely foreign position. The fanbase still has people who doubt the success and legitimacy of the team. With all of history on their side, these fans have a reason for feeling such ways. This year however, the team is finally a great football team. The team for the first time in a long time look like and play like, Super Bowl contenders. Dan Campell is the gritty, hardnosed, Blue-Collar football coach this team so desperately needed. He and Brad Holmes have put together a well-disciplined, hard as nails squad of men. With stars on both sides of the ball, the Detroit Lions have a serious shot to rule the division.

The North Runs Through Detroit
The NFC North is not a division that is ruled by the Green Bay Packers and the Likes of Aaron Rodgers. Furthermore, Kirk Cousins has had a season ending Achilles injury that greatly limits the Vikings chances of making a run for the division title. Or does it? After losing Kirk Cousins to an Achilles tear, Minnesota went out and traded for Cardinals back up Joshua Dobbs. Many thought nothing of the trade and figured it wouldn’t change much of anything. Well Josh Dobbs has gone 2-0 so far in his time with Minnesota and the Vikings have won 5 straight games pulling to 6 and 4 and 2nd place in the NFC North. While the media is quick to hold up Dobbs as the next great QB for Minnesota, I don’t buy it. I think Josh Dobbs is solid but can’t possibly play at the level the team needs to overcome Detroit and win the division. The only thing standing in the way of the Lions clinching the division title, is themselves!

Dan Campbell Could Win Coach of the Year
Campbell is the favorite to win Coach of the Year by a lot. Of all the cash bet on the title, 33.6% is on Campbell (via Yahoo! Sports), which is roughly what he had last season. After him, the next coach is under 10%, so he’s the favorite by far. Who follows Campbell? It’s Sean Payton of the Denver Broncos and Matt Eberflus of the Indianapolis Colts at +1100.
