Heartbreaking New Michigan Restaurant Closings
Running a local business can be a difficult thing, so it’s common to see local businesses pop up and shut down on any given day. Lately, there have been a lot of heartbreaking Michigan restaurant closings. Hopefully, just as many wonderful local Michigan restaurants are opening up, but right now, we’re going to honor a few of these Michigan restaurant spots that are no longer with us. These closed recently, too.
Recent Michigan Restaurant Closings
Jamex Brewing Co., located in the Detroit area at 21721 Harper Avenue in St. Clair Shores, recently shut its doors. Jeff and Kat of the establishment took to social media to announce the news and thank the community for their support.
“We mentioned community in our previous post and we’d like to take a moment to thank our community,” they wrote. “You all are amazing and we are so grateful to have gotten to know you over the years. Thank you for coming out these past few weeks. It was great getting to reconnect with so many people that have walked through our doors.”
They added, “We will miss seeing you in the taproom, but rest assured you’ll see us around town on the other side of the bar hanging out with you guys. Thank you for a wonderful seven years.”
As for why Jamex Brewing Co. closed, they explained, “This is a very challenging industry in a very challenging time. At this point, the risk/reward of owning this business with an amazing family of five to support simply does not justify staying open.” They also said that instead of being sad about closing their doors, “we would like to take some time to reflect on all the good that has happened. We learned so much. So much about business, about brewing, and especially about community.”
Another Detroit-area spot that recently was Hanah House, located at 607 Shelby Street No. 100 in Detroit. This Asian fusion-inspired restaurant was located in downtown Detroit’s Financial District. They took to social media to announce the space was for sale.
Meanwhile, in Royal Oak. Bandit Tavern & Hideaway, which was located at 419 South Main Street, closed after eight months of business. It was the latest establishment from the Mission Restaurant Group, and in a statement about the closing, Mission president David Ritchie cited that current market conditions for the closure.
