New Michigan Restaurant Opens With ‘Affordable, Flavorful’ Food
When local restaurants close, it’s a sad thing, but when local eating spots open, it’s a very happy thing. Thankfully, there’s some good news this month, in that a unique new Michigan restaurant is open and serving “affordable, flavorful” food. There aren’t too many spots to get this kind of food in the mid-Michigan area, either, so it’s extra good news that the area is getting this spot.
Welcome to Handie, a New Michigan Restaurant
Handie is now open at 515 E. Grand River Avenue, Suite G, in the Lansing area. The spot is a fast-casual dining restaurant that serves up African-infused wraps, sandwiches and more. Owner Taiwo Adeleye now has headed up two restaurants in the Lansing area, the first being Tatse & Alobosa Bar downtown, which closed over the summer. Handi has “handable” food, including sandwiches, bowls, wraps and meat pies, the perfect size for munching.
Handie’s mission, according to their website, is to “swiftly serve affordable, culturally vibrant fusion cuisine that caters to the fast-paced lifestyles of students and busy individuals. We blend the diverse flavors of Africa and America into health-conscious wraps and beyond, fostering a sense of community and diversity in every bite.” They also have the vision of being “the ultimate destination for those seeking quick, affordable, and flavorful meals that seamlessly blend African and American culinary traditions. Our goal is to inspire healthier lifestyles while celebrating cultural diversity within our communities.”
Specifically, food choices include wraps filled with delicious meats, chicken or fresh veggies, as well as sides and “guilt-free desserts.” They add that they “celebrate premium ingredients and a commitment to health and convenience.” Their menu also offers “authentic African drinks infused with exotic flavors, providing a diverse range of options for every palate.”
The views on the restaurant’s website are really positive. One reviewer stated, “The food is absolutely delicious. It is authentic African Cuisine that reminds me of my mom’s cooking, just better.” They add, “The food is prepared fresh and is bursting with flavor.” Reviewers also say the “customer service is top notch and it’s evident the care they have for their customers and pride they take in their restaurant.”
I think it’s so great to see a local spot like this pop up. See Handie’s full menu online at www.handieafrican.com. Reach out to me with your favorite local restaurants.
