South Carolina Man Held Candy Store Employees At Gunpoint
A South Carolina man held candy store employees at gunpoint! It sounds like his sweet-tooth might have got the best of him here!
Some stores have very friendly and open return policies. Seriously, have you ever heard about Costco’s return policy? It doesn’t make any sense, it’s so good for customers. However, not everybody has a return policy that makes customers happy. That seems to be the case at this candy shop in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
South Carolina Man Held Candy Store Employees At Gunpoint
“Who can take a sunrise, sprinkle it with dew, cover it with chocolate and a miracle or two?” Well, The Candy Man can! Unfortunately, not everyone is so nostalgic and friendly towards the candy man. At least not after what happened at Sugar Life Ice Cream & Candy Bar in Myrtle Beach.
According to WCJB, 36-year-old Joshua Kim went into the candy store and argued with 2 employees over returning candy. When informed that he was not entitled to a refund, Kim reportedly pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot the 2 workers, per WCJB. It sounds like policy at Sugar Life is that they don’t do returns on candy and they always make that clear during the check-out process. Well, it sounds like Kim might have missed that very important part. I think it’s an understandable rule, you can’t take candy out of the store and then come back to return it. I imagine it’s not enclosed in a box, or something like that. All sales are final means all sales are final.
Candy store employee Edilson Mejia tells WCJB, “He said, ‘I put a chunk in your head if you don’t bring me back my money, right now. It’s no lie. It’s no lie.” To make things worse, all of this played out in front of other customers. Police reviewed surveillance footage inside the store and it matched the story they were told by employees at the store. Kim was arrested as was 35-year-old Chelsie Lowe later that night at a resort. During a search of their vehicle, they found cocaine and weed inside which added on a drug charge for Kim and a single drug charge for Lowe, per WCJB. Additionally, reports say Kim was charged with 2 counts of pointing and presenting firearms at a person and unlawful conduct toward a child. You can see Kim’s mugshot below provided by the Myrtle Beach Police Department.
