Detroit Red Wing Legend Darren McCarty To Host Victory For Veterans Dinner/Auction
Former Detroit Red Wing Darren McCarty is bringing his “Slap Stick Comedy Show” to Howell, Michigan on February 10th. If you’ve never seen the show, take it from me, it’s well worth it. Whether you’re a hockey fan or not, the way Darren tells stories is both entertaining and informative. You’ll be glad you went.
Plus, this one is for another great cause. Veterans Connected is a great organization! They truly live up to the “Leave No Veteran Behind” motto. Since 2019 they have helped countless veterans with over $600,000 in services and the demand is growing. They try to focus on reducing stresses that could lead to suicide. Stats say that a veteran dies from suicide every 34 minutes, 42 a day, a nearly 100% increase since 2019.
According to founder, Bryan Bradford, the comedy show is more than just a show. “It’s an opportunity to build the resources for Veterans Connected, which by the way, not one board member is paid. Come out, hear their stories, and enjoy a great night of comedy, incredible silent and live auction items” and lots more.
I’ve had the fortune to see this show several times. Darren has really crafted the art of telling a great story and throwing in some good jokes along the way. Yes, he talks a lot about “Fight Night At The Joe”. The date that will live in infamy for Detroit Red Wing fans. There were fights in the NHL before and after that one, but none have had the impact that one did to change a team’s trajectory. The Red Wings went on to win the Stanley couple a few months after that day in March 1997.
Get your tickets, see a great show, support a great cause, and have a fun night out with former Detroit Red Wing Darren McCarty!
