The Michigan Wolverines won another close rivalry game against the number 2 ranked team in the country over the weekend. While many including myself, worried how Sherrone Moore would fare against OSU in Jim Harbaugh’s absence. He proved the doubters wrong again. Moore was facing some criticism for playing too conservative in his first 2 games as head coach. You can’t say that for the Ohio State game. Moore got the Michigan Defense motivated and ready to go for this years’ showdown with Ohio State.
Michigan Defense Holds
Winning 30-24, the Michigan Defense showed up in a big way yet again. While the Michigan Defense allowed 378 total yards, if you watched the game, they came up with key stops and big plays when it mattered most. Winning the turnover battle 2-0 with a game sealing interception by Rod Moore in the 4th quarter. Holding one of the top scoring offenses in the nation to 24 points in a rivalry game, is exceptional work. The offense did its job as well.

JJ McCarthy may have only thrown for 148 passing yards, but he played well enough to get the job done. He completed 16 of his 20 passes and added a touchdown as well. Blake Corum bullied the OSU defensive front with 2 touchdowns on 88 yards. While statistically Blake has had better games, he showed up when the team needed him. After Ohio State, Jim Harbaugh can now return to coaching.
No Harbaugh? No Problem
Moving forward the Wolverines are slated to have their head coach return to the team. Since the Big Ten only suspended Jim Harbaugh for the remainder of the regular season, he is free for the playoffs.

With Harbaugh back and the team fresh off another big time win over Ohio State, this squad is destined for big things. With the exception of a catastrophic loss in the Big Ten title game, Michigan will likely play in the college football playoff. Many think this, is the year the team can win it all.

This 2023 squad is being heralded as “the best team in years”. This seems to be true. One of the big reasons for the teams’ success is everyone buys in. The Michigan defense buys into the whole team concept, it’s not about “I” it’s about “Team”. The offense doesn’t exclude anyone, as everyone is the focus. It’s truly a school that has fully bought in and built around that concept.
