WRIF Rock 4 Tots Toy Drive Beats 2022’s Goal – Screamin’ Scott
WRIF’s 15th annual Rock 4 Tots took place at Freddy’s Bar & Grill in Clinton Township for two days last weekend, and the toy drive benefited the Clinton Township Goodfellows.
At the event, WRIF-FM also was given a certificate award of appreciation for 15 years of dedication of service to R4T. The event featured 50 bands on both days playing from Saturday afternoon to late Sunday night. Patrons were urged to bring a new unwrapped toy or $5 for admission. As of Sunday, we are way ahead of where we were for last year’s total, so Sunday is like a bonus day for us.
Both days had incredible acts of local rock and roll. My Personal favorite was Kenny Olsen with Jimmie Bones, Aaron Letrick, Jason Hartless, and Tosha Owens. It was magical. Rock 4 Tots features mini-sets from 50 bands ranging from Dave Hamilton to Stone Blossoms to Dave Edwards and The LOOK to my own band Chit playing a set throughout the day and into the night. Each act also performs a holiday tune.
Rock-4-Tots collects new unwrapped toys, and gift cards, and accepts cash donations. Throughout the event, there are 50/50 raffles, and an array of raffle items to choose from including an R4T exclusive rock box filled with swag from various performers. I had a ball hosting for my 15th time. and was great to see everyone support the local music scene so kids get a Christmas this year. My special thanks to the R4T crew which is the best around and the reason for the success of this event every year.
