The Stooges to Release Live Album Featuring Original Lineup’s Final Show
The Stooges will release a new live album, “Live at Goose Lake: August 8th, 1970,” featuring rare footage from the the original lineup’s last show.
The set, out on Aug. 7 via Jack White’s Third Man Records, offers the only known soundboard recording of Iggy Pop, guitarist Ron Asheton, drummer Scott Asheton and bass player Dave Alexander. At the Goose Lake show, the band played “Fun House” from front to back one month after the record dropped.
What’s extra cool is that the rare stereo two-track tape of the show was recently discovered in the basement of a Michigan farmhouse. The audio was restored by Vance Powell and mastered by Third Man Mastering’s Bill Skibbe. Creem Magazine’s Jaan Uhelzski contributed liner notes to the release.
In advance of the release, stream a radio edit of “T.V. Eye” below.
