What To Expect From The PlayStation 5 Reveal Stream
Emphasis on Sound
In a talk originally scheduled for Game Developers Conference, PS5 Lead System Architect, Mark Cerny explained that the PS5 would support 3D audio. And the new Dual Sense controller has a built-in speaker made so players can chat even without the use of an external headset. Through their new Tempest 3D audio hardware, the PS5 is looking to position itself as the system with the most robust audio experience regardless of what peripherals a player has.Backward Compatible with PS4 and More?
Cerny also stated that porting your PS4 games via an external hard drive is more than possible with the Playstation 5. However, we have not seen a confirmed list of games nor any news on games from PS3 or earlier generations. Surely, the PS5 will support Playstation Now, the console’s game streaming service. But that doesn’t give any comfort to gamers who still have old discs lying around. Expect to get a solid answer on just how many old games will run on the new console. Also, anticipate how much the box itself will cost. At the launch of the PS4, Sony stomped all over Microsoft at E3 2013 by making the console cheaper than the Xbox One and revealing a more consumer-friendly console. Sony is in a position to do the same in 2020, which could be curtains for Microsoft’s system.Modular Console?
In addition to being able to play any game from any generation, PC has the advantage of customization. However, Cerny shared that the ability to swap in larger and faster Solid State Drives into the PS5 will not only be possible, it’s encouraged. Perhaps this could be the beginning of truly modular consoles that could rival PCs in power. It remains to be seen but let’s hope we hear more about it.Games, Games, Games
The PS4 closed this console gen out with two massive exclusives in Final Fantasy VII Remake and The Last of Us 2. With other games like God of War and Ghosts of Tsushima, Sony silenced the “no one plays single-player games” argument. While Xbox is sure to move units with the new Halo, we haven’t seen much from their first-party titles. As it always has been, it will be the games that truly generate the hype. Will there be a look at a God of War sequel? Another Final Fantasy remake? Or perhaps something out of left field that captivates us how Horizon: Zero Dawn did. Who knows what the keynote brings but for now we have no idea when it may actually happen. Sony didn’t release any details on when they rescheduled the event too. But be sure that as soon as it’s announced we’ll let you know!Other Articles Star Wars Movies Ranked Harley Quinn And The Kiss Heard Round The World
