Florida Man Rescued From Spinning Boat
Lake Dias, which is in Volusia County north of Orlando, is a popular destination for boaters. According to CBS News, Charlie McCrary, a member of Volusia County’s citizens on patrol program, was conducting his regular patrol of the lake when he saw a spinning boat. He tells CBS News, “I got out of my unit, I walked up to the dock, I could not see nobody in the boat whatsoever.” However, there was a driver on the boat who happened to be unresponsive and in need of a rescue.
They tried several ways to bring the boat to a stop including using a larger boat to push it but eventually had to opt for a riskier strategy of getting close to the boat and jumping on like you see in the movies. VCFR Acting Division Chief and Technical Rescue Deputy Team Leader John Kyp took that responsibility and executed it. The man was brought to shore and taken to a local hospital and is now expected to fully recover.
