A Norwegian cruise passenger from Wisconsin caught the flu and ended up with a $47,000 medical bill. That’s some serious Chuck Luck!
Going on a cruise can be the trip of a lifetime or it can end up being an absolute disaster. Think about the people who got stuck on the ships when the pandemic broke out. That would have been horrible. Additionally, there’s often cases of food poisoning on cruise ships and it seems like one of those things where if one person gets sick, a whole lot more are going to end up sick as well. Now, one guy from Wisconsin caught the flu on a Norwegian cruise and ended up with a $47K medical bill! That is not the ideal vacation.

According to FOX 9, that man has been identified as Mike Cameron who along with his girlfriend, Tamra Masterman, won a free cruise to the Caribbean. It departed from Miami on January 5th and started a weeklong tour of the beautiful Caribbean. However, during the trip Cameron reportedly came down with the flu and had to visit the ship’s medical center to be treated. After 3 days, he eventually learned that treatment was going to cost him $47,000. That’s a ton of money! It would be difficult for anyone to pay. FOX 9 reports the cruise line charged 2 credit cards on file, maxing them both out. He still reportedly owes $21,000.
To make things even worse, they had travel insurance that covered medical expenses up to $20,000. However, they haven’t had lucky filing a claim yet. What a nightmare! I think that’s enough to keep me from ever going on a cruise. No, thank you!
