Washington Thieves Steal Replica Of The Leg Lamp From ‘A Christmas Story’
A pair of thieves in Washington state stole a replica of the leg lamp from ‘A Christmas Story.’ Hopefully they’re extra fragile with it.
It happened at a plumbing supply store in Marysville, Washington. Now, Larry’s Plumbing is hoping to get the leg lamp replica back. Of course it all seems like a joke but it’s all too real for them. Thankfully, that’s all that was taken during the break-in but what a strange thing to steal!
Did Thieves Steal A Replica Of The Leg Lamp From ‘A Christmas Story?’
It sounds like Eric Klemp, who owns the store, is a big fan of the movie. You can’t blame him! It’s a classic full of great scenes. When he bought the store he wanted to create a holiday window and no holiday window is complete without the famous leg lamp from ‘A Christmas Story.’ Eric tells My Northwest, “I can remember that as a kid going to the mall with my parents, every store–Bon Marche, JC Penny’s, Fredrick and Nelson’s had a display window. And I wanted one too and being a fan of ‘A Christmas Story’ the first thing I said was, ‘We’re buying a leg lamp.'” This is no ordinary replica. It’s reportedly going to cost $3,000 to replace! He says he already bought a new one and he’s not letting the thieves win.
Marysville WA Police say a window of the plumbing store in the 1600 block of Grove Street was broken into around 5:30am and that’s when the leg lamp was stolen. It stands 45 inches tall and it’s glorious and a major award!
Anyone with information on who could have stolen the leg lamp is asked to call 425-743-4940. Larry’s Plumbing took to Instagram to say, “Now that we are the joke of Marysville…in all seriousness we were robbed this morning. Apparently these couple of wonderful people wanted our leg lamp more than we did. They decided to break our big window and snatch the lamp!! We are absolutely grateful that’s all they took. If anyone happens to recognize these hoodlums (in the video) please contact us.” They went on to thank the Marysville PD for their quick response and for securing their store. Be on the lookout for the Grinch who stole the leg lamp!
