Did A Passenger Fall Overboard On A Taylor Swift Themed Cruise?
Trouble at sea as a 66-year-old woman either fell or jumped overboard on a Taylor Swift themed cruise off the coast of the Bahamas. A search has since been called off.
There’s always lots of risk when you take a cruise. You could get stuck on board for an extended period of time, you could get sick, or there’s always the chance you go overboard. It sounds like that’s what happened to someone on a Taylor Swift themed cruise. It sounds like it would be a fun time, but it took a much darker turn than expected. Now, they’ve called the search for her off pending new developments.

The search has been suspended meaning they’re no longer requesting assistance from the Coast Guard. Falling overboard on a cruise can be incredibly dangerous. It’s not easy to stop those things to turn around and get you. You could easily be left behind or worse–sucked into the propeller or something. There are rarely good outcomes following someone going overboard.
According to People, the 66-year-old woman fell from Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas ship roughly 17 miles north of Nassau. It reportedly happened around 9:40pm. That means it would have been dark making any chances of finding her that much more difficult. It sounds like they went all out to try to locate her including using an HC-144 airplane crew and a MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter from Air Station Miami to help with the search. A statement from Royal Caribbean said, “We are also providing support and assistance to the guest’s family during this difficult time. To respect the privacy of our guest’s family, we have no additional details to share.”
It sounds like a passenger on board said rumors of the incident started on Tuesday night when they saw a lifeboat circling the ship which was brought to a stop, per People. Once the boat comes randomly to a stop you have to know something serious is going on and on a boat that big it can be hard to get the word out without sending everyone into a panic. That would be a horrible situation for everyone involved.
The Taylor Swift themed cruise was called the “In My Cruise Era” and departed from Miami. The group’s website says fans going on the trip would, “celebrate all things Taylor, make new friends, dress up in our favorite eras, trade friendship bracelets, and enjoy everything this amazing ship has to offer!” See an interview with witnesses here.
