Officer Resigns After Backseat Encounter With A Suspect
According to News 18, the officer was forced to seek help from a fellow policeman after he became locked in the backseat of his police cruiser with a woman he had arrested for suspected car theft.
News 18 reports that officer has been identified as Anthony Hair. An internal investigation into the situation found a conversation captured on Hair’s body camera showed a concerning conversation between the officer and the suspect. According to News 18, the suspect was propositioning him for sexual activity in which he requested her to refrain from saying such things as everything was being recorded.
A little while later, he deactivated his camera and GPS data showed him slow his car down before turning onto a dark residential street close to the destination before stopping. 20 minutes after that, News 18 reports Hair contacted a fellow officer asking about a master key for patrol cars because he was locked in the backseat with the woman and needed assistance. After an hour back there together, a supervisor arrived to unlock the door.

According to News 18, Hair maintains he was just checking on the woman in the backseat and his camera was dislodged while exiting the patrol car. However, News 18 reports that the investigation found traces of semen on his belt. The woman denied any inappropriate behavior during their time together in the cruiser.
An officer who helped in the investigation said, “I heard and noticed Officer Hair had a panicky voice. I asked him if he was okay. He said, yes, and then asked if I had my patrol car key with me…I asked why he was asking and what did he need. Officer Hair then asked me if I could go meet him. I asked him his location and he said, near Cottonwood…I asked him why he needed me, and he said he would tell me when I got there. He said he was really embarrassed,” via News 18. Yes! That would be incredibly embarrassing to come have your co-worker do. What a horrible spot to be put in!
