  • Parts of Dio’s Personal Wardrobe Worn in “Stranger Things’

While fans everywhere rejoice that the show ‘Stranger Things’ is back, we kick off midnight metal news with a note about new character from the show, Dungeon Master and Metalhead Eddie Munson.
Costume designer Amy Parrish revealed on social media that the jacket Munson wears is actually straight from the estate of Dio himself. “We reached out to the estate of the late-Ronnie James Dio [to source a band shirt] and His wife [Wendy] offered to send us vintage T-shirts, which was such a dream.” The actor who plays Eddie, Joe Quinn, also told the Hollywood Reporter that he listened to Black Sabbath’s ‘Master of Reality’ and a lot of Metallica in preparation for the role.

  • John Carptenter’s Three Favorite Metallica Albums

Iconic horror movie director John Carpenter gave his three favorite Metallica albums in a recent interview and they probably aren’t the ones you think they would be.

After posting videos of shutting down a Wendy’s drive-thru while playing Motley Crüe’s ‘Livewire’ and similar antics at a Chick-fil-A, they recently brought their shenanigans to a local Burger King. With the drummer playing on a platform locked down to a car in the drive-thru, the guitarists in the band enter the lobby to declare Burger King as the best, before launching into AC/DC’s ‘Thunderstruck’. Everyone else in line just wants their damn lunch.

  • Mercyful Fate Take Stage, Perform New Song

Mercyful Fate are returning to the stage this summer and kicked off the tour at the Expo Plaza in Hanover, supporting Volbeat.

As if taking the stage for the first time in 23 years wasn’t enough, the band performed a new song, titled ‘The Jackal of Salzburg’, which will be featured on their upcoming studio album. Regarding the new song, King Diamond says, “It’s quite a monster, I would say. It’s almost nine minutes long. It’s not recorded yet. So whatever version we might play for you could change before it actually is fully recorded.”
