Ohio Man Impersonated Police Officer To Score Discount At Denny’s
Did an Ohio man impersonate a police officer to score a discount at Denny’s? That’s what’s being alleged…along with other details.
Oddly, people seem to impersonate police officers all the time. Maybe it’s to get revenge, maybe for the power trip, or maybe it’s to score a discount at Denny’s. I feel like the last one isn’t as popular as some of the others but that’s what this story is about today. The incident started when the 32-year-old Ohio man impersonated an officer to get a discount at Denny’s. Then, things only got worse as he reportedly paid with fake money. Now, he’s facing charges of impersonating a cop and theft.
Did An Ohio Man Impersonate A Cop For A Discount At Denny’s?
Honestly, I’ve never thought about pretending to be a police officer to score a discount at Denny’s. I’ve never really had that moment where I found Denny’s to be expensive. It’s one of the cheapest options out there!
According to WTRF, police received a report that the suspect had ordered food at a Denny’s on Belmont Avenue in Liberty Township, Ohio. Later, the employees would realize that the customer had paid with counterfeit money. WTRT reports that the 32-year-old suspect has been identified as Jermaine Young who they say asked about the law enforcement discount and then showed a detective badge from the Struthers Police Department.
That’s when the employee reportedly gave the discount and then helped other customers and when she returned she found that Young and his group had left and left 2 $20 bills under his plate. Eventually, that money was determined to be fake. WTRF reports that a Liberty officer spoke with a Struthers officer who confirmed that Young does not work with them and should not have a badge.
Now, Young is facing charges of impersonating a police officer, criminal simulation, and theft. A warrant has been issued for his arrest. It’s such a bold move to try to impersonate an officer! It’s also an incredibly risky move. They don’t seem to like when people do that and understandably so! It’s definitely not going to help your case, especially when it’s just one of the many things you’ve been charged with. All of this over some Denny’s? It doesn’t make sense! If you’re going to use fake or counterfeit money you’d think you’d try it out at somewhere a little more expensive. This was no Grand Slam for Young.
