Watch as a trampoline flies over an Alabama home in a video going viral online. It must have been incredibly windy that day!

It happened in Athens, Alabama and was captured on a home security camera. In the video, you can see the trampoline is lifted into the air and slams into a home. Thankfully, it sounds like there were no injuries during the incident.

It’s strange to see this happen during daylight. You’d think that if the wind was strong enough to lift up a trampoline, it would be dark and cloudy. Is that just me? I was expecting it to look like the Twister movie. At first I thought I might have had the wrong video, but nope. It just happened in daylight on a sunny day with blue skies. That was not expected.

In the video shared by Viral Hog on YouTube, the trampoline flies out of seemingly nowhere and crashes onto the roof of a house. It looks like a UFO the way it comes hovering in. There aren’t many trees around in the video so it’s hard to tell exactly how windy it is there, but clearly it was strong. I’ve never seen wind strong enough to lift a trampoline that high into the air. The trampoline then falls onto the driveway and lands on all 4 of its feet. It’s then situated in the front yard of these people’s home. The wind does slide it onto the driveway at one point where it seems to have stayed.

That’s crazy! I’ve never seen anything like it. Especially on such a clear day! That’s the part I cannot wrap my head around. Is that normal in Alabama? I’ve seen many storm videos, tornados, wind, hurricanes, and more. However, none of them looked like this. It was never a sunny day with blue skies.

Have you ever seen anything like it? Thankfully, everyone was reportedly okay and nobody was injured during the incident. No word on if there was any serious damage to the home or how far the trampoline flew. Imagine driving down the road and seeing that up in the sky. You’d have to pull over. I’m sure some people would swear it was a UFO and you can’t blame them! It would probably look like that if you just got a glimpse.

Before we get to the main tips, let’s get through some basics. Stay informed when a severe weather event is approaching. It’s simple but important. You don’t want to be caught off guard when bad weather strikes. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and National Weather Service both have information that they provide leading up to and during a severe weather event. So, make sure to get the latest information in the case of any weather emergency. Local meteorologists also have good information, but the main alerts come from the National Weather Service.

Another mistake some people make is not taking “watches” seriously. For example, you might see that there’s a severe thunderstorm watch in your area and think, oh, it’s just a watch, I can go out for a walk. Don’t do it. “A watch is used when the risk of a hazardous weather or hydrologic event has increased significantly, but its occurrence, location or timing is still uncertain,” the National Weather Service explains. We’ll get more into the specifics of a watch, warning and advisory later in this story.
