California Punk Rock Frontman Accused Of Terrorizing People Around Yosemite National Park
A California punk rock frontman has been accused of terrorizing people around Yosemite National Park. It sounds like he said some crazy things!
Yosemite National Park is one of the most beautiful places in the country. This is definitely one way to spoil that experience. Afterwards, he was left in his underwear and is now facing several charges.
What Did The Man Accused Of Terrorizing People Around Yosemite National Park Do?
This is a good reminder of why I like to stay home. This very rarely happens around people you know. Once you go out in public, you never know who you might run into. You just hope the people you’re around are nothing like this.
According to The New York Post, Anthony Mehlhaff, the frontman of Los Angeles-based band “Cancer Christ” started his rampage at a local restaurant in Buck Meadows. During the incident, 40-year-old Mehlhaff reportedly confronted a pregnant waitress, telling her that spirits led him to her. He even said, “Your baby belongs to me, what time is your break because I will be waiting for you,” per The New York Post. That’s a scary thing to hear! That’s not all he ended up doing.
The New York Post reports that Mehlhaff allegedly stole drinks and assaulted another employee at the restaurant before fleeing to Yosemite National Park which was approximately 15 miles away from the restaurant. Eventually, he crashed his car near Fish Camp and took off his shirt, handing it to a witness and saying, “You’ll want to keep this, I’m going to be famous,” per The New York Post. Great, one of those guys. He reportedly then stole a bike and went to the Tenaya Lodge where he placed items in the refrigerator and grabbed a knife and threatened workers. That’s when he stripped down to his undies and told customers to leave or they’d be in danger, per The New York Post. Yup, that’s a serious threat that people would naturally take seriously.
Additionally, he assaulted a deputy while being medically cleared, did some road rage, and more. It sounds like it was a wild day for him and everyone in the area. He has since been charged with vandalism of $400 or more, vehicle theft, reckless driving, kidnapping, first-degree burglary and robbery–which are all felonies. See his mugshot and some pictures from the scene below.
