Meet Captain Kirk, the 94-year-old DJ rocking a Long Island Senior Center. His weekly set is the hit of the Spangle Drive Senior Center in North Babylon. However, his playlist isn’t what you’d expect.
Let’s introduce you to the self-proclaimed oldest DJ in the world. Right now, he’s performing at the Senior Home, but soon he could be taking over Coachella.
Captain Kirk Is A 94-Year-Old DJ Rocking A Long Island Senior Center
According to FOX 5 NY, Kirk Johnson was a school bus driver until age 91. Now, he’s found a new passion after a career change. His associates are loving his new career as their DJ.
He tells FOX 5 NY, “I didn’t know anything about a computer, I didn’t even know what a laptop looked like. I watch these people dance, having fun, that’s all I want to do.” That’s all you could ask for in a DJ. He knows his responsibility.
Captain Kirk volunteers at the Spangle Drive Senior Center in North Babylon to do a 2 hour set every Wednesday. Then, on Fridays you can find him at the Knights of Columbus in Seaford for Happy Hour. Good news! Looking for a DJ? He is available for private events. If you’re looking for something fresh and new–while at the same time old–for your next even, Captain Kirk could be your guy!
However, don’t expect traditional party music during his sets. No, these are much more unique. This is not the average playlist from a wedding DJ, or something like that. Instead, Kirk says he plays Western, Doo-Wop, Swing, Calypso, and Latin music, per FOX 5 NY.
This is awesome to see. You’re never too old to accomplish your dreams or find your calling. Happy he was able to find this new passion at the age of 94. Here’s to rocking it into 95! See more on Captain Kirk at FOX 5 NY. Of course, he’s not the only bad ass old person we’ve talked about lately. There was the 85-year-old woman who turned the table on a home intruder, as well!

Peep Show: The Best Of Chuck The Freak
Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
