It can be tough to keep up with slang. It’s constantly changing. Likewise, dating culture and norms are also continuously changing and you don’t want to be left behind. Thankfully, we’re here to help. Hey, that’s not sarcasm! We really are!
There are a lot of new terms in dating that weren’t even real words just a couple of years ago. The word “Rizz” was even named word of the year for 2023. That’s when you give off a charisma and swagger without even being good looking, essentially.
However, Rizz isn’t the only term that’s entered our lexicon in recent years. There are many more that you should be familiar with. We don’t want you to fall behind.
What Are The New Trends In Dating?
First, you should be familiar with a “situationship.” What is it? Pretty much exactly what it sounds like. You’re not in a relationship, you’re in a situationship. It’s kind of like on Facebook how you can say “it’s complicated.” If you’re in a situationship, you’re not in a relationship. Some would refer to this as “talking” or “friends with benefits” type thing.
Also, you’ll want to be familiar with “breadcrumbing.” That’s the act of giving someone just enough attention to keep them interested without exerting much effort of committing, according to USA Today. Basically, you’re being led on and are being treated as a back-up.
“Orbiting” is when you are still around someone’s online circle without getting too close, or when you sort of stick around and are a spectator after the relationship has ended, per USA Today.
Additionally, there’s the “soft launch.” That’s when you keep the person in your photos ambiguous but are sharing photos of them. It’s a way to tell the world “hey, I have someone…I’m just not ready to introduce you yet.”
Earlier, we mentioned “beige flag.” Still wondering what that is? According to USA Today, it’s a sign that someone might be boring. Yes, it’s not as bad as a red flag. However, it can still be problematic.

The Most Questionable Fashion Trends Of 2023
I am not a fashionable person. Love me some sweatpants and hoodies. However, if these items are what’s in style, then I think I’m perfectly find not being fashionable.
Some strange clothing items became popular in 2023 for a number of different reasons. You can blame TikTok, you can blame Taylor Swift, you can even blame nostalgia. Again, just don’t blame me.
I’ve gone through some photos and videos and have identified 5 questionable fashion trends from 2023. To me, these stood out as the strangest. However, there were much more popular trends that didn’t make the list. It’s hard when you stick to only five!
Some of the popular trends that didn’t make the list this year include Tabi shoes, Y2K, ballet flats, jean maxi skirts, and more, according to Huffpost. Tabi shoes were very polarizing in 2023. They’re a split-toed shoe inspired by traditional Japanese work shoes from the 15th century.
It seems like Y2K is popular every year, and this year was no exception. We saw cargo pants, metallic colors, oversized shades, and platform shoes make a big comeback in 2023.
Also, ballet flats were flat out everywhere in 2023. There were tons of options and choices available to buy. You could get them bedazzled, with a bow, silk, suede, corduroy, anything you could possibly want! Seems like they could also pair well with most outfits. It’s like the shoe equivalent of the little black dress.
Well, those items didn’t make the list of the 5 most questionable fashion trends of 2023. Here’s what did make the list.
Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
