Tough Times: Florida Man Turns To Iguana Eggs Due To Price Hike
A Florida man has turned to iguana eggs due to the price hike currently affecting eggs. Is it worth it?
We shared this story on-air recently on Dave & Chuck The Freak and couldn’t believe it. Sure, times are tough right now with the price of eggs being ridiculously high. It has some people getting creative with ways to save money. Some are choosing to do more breakfast meat like bacon and sausage and are going without the eggs. However, some just can’t seem to let go of their love of eggs in the morning. Some choose to still pay those prices and others have turned to iguana eggs. Well, at least this guy did. It really doesn’t get more “Florida Man” than this!
Florida Man Turns To Iguana Eggs For Breakfast
According to 6 ABC, John Johnson, of Marco Island, has been eating iguana eggs due to the price hike of eggs. He says he combines the yolks with a touch of milk and then adds salt, pepper, and some Latin-inspired spices and scrambles them up. He’ll even add ham and more to it like an omelet, per 6 ABC.
Sounds like he’s pretty familiar with iguanas. He’s the owner and founder of Down Goes Iguana and has been removing the invasive species for years. He deals with hundreds of iguanas and finally found a way to make use of some of them with their eggs. From what it sounds like, he really enjoys the taste!
Do you think these high prices will lead you down a road like this or will you find something else for breakfast? I think I’ll just stick with cereal and will go without eggs until the price comes down a bit. No crazy eggs for me. No, thank you!
