Last month, a Texas woman hit the lottery for $83.5 million but now they’re not paying her because she bought the ticket through an app called Jackpocket. Officials are now looking into whether the win should count or not and she can’t get paid until the investigation is complete. Can you imagine how impatient you’d feel? If it’s allowed, you win $83M! According to KXAN, Jackpocket is an app that allows you to purchase lottery tickets and scratch offs over the phone. Her attorney is saying she’s the rightful winner and deserves her money but now it’s all a waiting game. Other lottery wins like this have been investigated by Texas recently. It sounds like those were allowed to be proceed as wins.
A spokesperson for Jackpocket says they’ve been operating in Texas since 2019 and have been in compliance with the TLC. Hopefully everything is settled soon and she’s able to get her money!
